Barber Profile / Josh
From Classic styles to shop banter, meet the person behind The Bearded Man.
What first got you into cutting hair?
I kind of fell into it. I got kicked out of school at 14 and ended up doing work experience at a friend’s barbershop. Turned out I loved it. That led to an apprenticeship, then working with my dad, then into hairdressing at BIBA, and eventually travelling the world with it.
What’s your go to cut or style?
I always come back to scissor work. Clean, classic cuts like pomps and slick backs. I like the timeless stuff, though I don’t mind a good fade now and then.
What does a good day at The Bearded Man look like?
Full book, buzzing shop, good music, good chat. When the vibe’s right, you walk out better than you walked in.
What are you into outside the shop?
Bit of everything. I like to keep moving, hanging with mates, watching the footy, training, and always working on a project of some kind.
Any advice you always give clients?
Work with your hair, not against it. The best cuts suit your natural texture and shape. A clean finish, a touch of product, nothing forced.
