Textured cuts are one of the most requested styles in our chairs on Chapel Street, and for good reason. They look effortless, style in seconds and grow out well. But "something textured" can mean a lot of things, so here's how to get exactly what you're after.
What a Textured Cut Actually Is
A textured cut is about movement. Instead of cutting the hair to one flat length, we cut into it with scissors, building shape and separation so it sits naturally and doesn't look heavy. It can be short and choppy on top, or longer and loose, and it pairs well with either a scissor finish on the sides or a fade.
Bring a Photo, But Tell Us How You Live
A reference photo is the fastest way to show us the look you like. Just as useful is telling us how you actually wear your hair. Do you style it every morning or want to towel dry and go? Do you wear a helmet or a cap? Is your hair fine, thick, straight or wavy? That's what we use to make the cut work for you, not just the person in the photo.
Sides: Scissors or Fade?
Decide how short you want the sides. A scissor finish keeps things soft and natural. A skin fade gives sharper contrast against the texture on top. If you're unsure, ask. We'll show you how each would look on your head shape.
How Often to Come Back
Most textured cuts hold their shape for four to six weeks. If you've gone shorter on the sides, three to four weeks keeps it looking sharp.
Styling at Home
A small amount of matte product worked through dry hair with your fingers is usually all you need. Skip the comb and let the texture do the work.
